DomNick Carrubba
"Nick" Carrubba is the co-founder and art teacher of KidCarrooobba. From Sunday School teacher to Director of Children Ministry Programs, Nick has used art and music to teach children since 1999. The vision to use art & music to teach children began in his hometown in Brooklyn, NY in 1989, when a good friend asked him to teach weekly at a local church. This led Nick to take a year to study the Bible at Philadelphia College of Bible 1991, which led him to enter the field of social service working with children as a Child Counselor where he was trained in child development and how to assist children with autism. Nick has been drawing since childhood and as an adult he studied graphic design, but before long, he saw God was leading Him to use these skills for ministry purpose.
After taking on a few freelance art projects, and after being published in various commercial venues, such as The Birthday Book by Shelly Radic (Zondervan Books), Pierson & Son Trucks, and Farmers' & Labor's Mutual Insurance, in 2002 his focus turned to using his art and music in Children's Ministry at the local church. In 2004 he was given the opportunity to serve as a Youth and Children Ministry Director, developing curriculum & programs by applying his graphic design skills to create lessons and props. In 2004 Nick discovered a VBS Kit that truly helped him to teach children biblical truths of God's Word and how to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This led Nick to study children's ministry and graduated in 2006. In 2009 Nick developed an art course called My Shapes Make Art and effectively taught children at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center for five years. His desire to provide a place that offered God's perspectives and art is a dream (vision) come true. In the classroom, students appreciate Nick's approach to make learning fun, at the same time teaching to respect each individual along with the work and creations. |
Wendy CarrubbaWendy Nicole Carrubba, BA Deaf Studies & Human Service, is the co-founder of KidCarrooobba and American Sign Language teacher. Wendy has been teaching sign language to infants through adults for 12 years. She taught at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center for five years. Along with Nick she served in Children's Ministry and in 2006 she also graduated from the Children's Ministry Institute.
Teaching children began at a local church, then she worked as a Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant, and has continued teaching her classes along with homeschooling her daughter, Nicole. She also worked a year for Monta Briant, bestselling baby sign language author of Sign, Sing, and Play, teaching classes to infants and their moms. Wendy studied American Sign Language (ASL) & Deaf Culture at California State University, Northridge. As a young teen, Wendy recognized how sign language is a very useful and needed language in the hearing community as well as Deaf communities. It was the need to help her deaf grandfather become part of family gatherings that led Wendy to begin learning sign language. Wendy's priority is to make learning fun while teaching American Sign Language in a manner that respects the Deaf. Wendy has students who repeatedly take her courses where parents and students alike share how much they enjoy learning ASL. Wendy has been known to create a pleasant easy going pace in her class. Children learn without even knowing they are learning. Her lessons are designed to meet children at their level. |
Nicole CarrubbaNicole Carrubba, is the Teacher Assistant and Crochet Teacher of Kid OK Crochet. Nicole started as a student in Nick and Wendy's classes at the Kroc Center and then homeschooling gave Nicole the unique opportunity to become a teacher’s assistant. She assisted her parents (Nick & Wendy) for eight years, and has discovered a love for teaching and nurturing children. Nicole loves studying Child Development, and is currently looking to seek the Lord's guidance in pursuing a nursing degree.
The vision of KidCarrooobba has been developed with Nicole's desire to see a place for children to grow in their faith and experience the positive things she has discovered in reading the Bible. In 2017 Nicole wrote and published a children's book titled, Awesome Bats! Chiroptera...The Only Flying Mammals. Her first of the Romans 1:20 Series that encourage the reader to learn how to see God through His AWESOME creation. Children love Nicole! There's really no other way to say it... they just do:) |
Our Journey...
KidCarrooobba is... During our 24 years of marriage, we have had the blessing to be trained and serve in ministry. Our hearts are in ministries that offer Christian encouragement to families. In recent years we have been “tent makers” as teachers of art for children & sign language for children and adults. During this time our daughter Nicole has developed a heart to assist us in our classes, and to want to be encouraging to children somehow in ministry. “Kid Carrooobba” is how the Lord has been leading us to begin a service to the community that will allow us to offer “Children Enrichment Classes in-step with Christian Values!”

Our classes have a positive Christian emphasis, which is something we have been praying about for over three years. We are excited to offer our Art, Sign Language, Music, Crochet, and Tutoring Sessions “In-Step with Christian Values,” by weaving in Bible verses, singing praise songs, and opening and closing in prayer! Bringing Christian encouragement to children and families will truly honor our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

KidCarrooobba supports children who are in the this unique and wonderful spectrum. If you have a child who has been diagnosed with Autism (ASD) and participates well in group classes, please contact us to find out if this is a good match for you. Also, we offer one on one sessions by appointment only.
